NTI Day 4

Hello Families! Attached is the NTI Day 4 Activities in case you lost yours. It will also be on our blog along with the below activities. Below are some activities if your child wanted to do them instead of the ones the sheet. Just mark it on the sheet. Please turn in the NTI Day 4 tomorrow. Thanks so much for all you do!! Literacy: Reviewing sight words is so important to keep a student remembering the words he/she already knows. Here is a fun sight word song to do this. Listen and sing it together. Pick one to two words your student struggled with and practice afterwards by writing or chanting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idexNu0SZpU We have been learning about silent e-- there are some great activities on Starfall--under number 5 and 6 activities http://www.starfall.com/n/level-a/learn-to-read/load.htm We have also been reviewing digraphs sh, wh, ch, and th. Starfall also has great activities to go with this- number 4-activities Math: We have been learning about 3D shapes. Here is a fun 3D shape song the students love. You could also go on a 3D shape hunt in your house looking for examples of cylinder, sphere, cone and cube. We have also been working on easy addition, just recently using the actually + and = sign. You could make up some addition sentences under 10 and have your child write the addition sentence down. Writing: We have been working on writing informational pieces. You could look up any subject your child wants to learn about-- last week we focused on presidents. Then help your student write 1 to 2 facts sentences about it. I would love it if they turned these in and read them to our class!! NTI Day 2

Hello! We hope this finds you all warm and cozy on this second snow day. I am available all day if you have any questions. Attached is NTI Day 2 activities. I have also attached the dream box and lexia directions in case you need them. All username and passwords for that have been written on the NTI packet we sent home. Here are optional activities if you child would rather do these instead of the ones on NTI Day 2 that are more focused on our current learning goals. If at any time the work is too hard or not challenging enough for your child please let me know and I can find work that is more individually fit for your child. Reading: Focus- Retelling the important details for story. Read a story together and have your child put of 5 fingers. With the thumb, they identify the main character, with the pointer finger, the main setting, the other 3 fingers are for the beginning, middle and end of the story. Focus- sight words will and with-- have your child write them in the snow or send me an email and have them type them in. Below is a link to a sight word song that reviews a lot of the sight words we already know. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idexNu0SZpU The Sight Word Song High frequency word song rap for kids www.youtube.com Math: Focus- counting backwards and forwards- Choose a silly voice and start counting from 39 to 60, really emphasize what comes after 39 and 49..this is the trickest. Then count backwards from 30 to 15 slowly. you can even walk backwards to emphasize it is backwards counting. To make these easier or harder just use lower or higher numbers Math and Writing: Focus- Adding story & Review writing rules- Have your child draw a picture of any adding story. Then you can help them write about it in a sentence. For example 1 bird joined 1 bird. It made 2 birds. Help your child leave finger spaces and punctuation. You can even write it for them and have them point out the finger spaces and put the punctuation in. Again, if you have any questions, please email. NTI Day 1

Happy snow day! I hope this finds you all safe and warm as it starts to snow. Today is our first snow of the school year. Attached to this email is the NTI Day 1 activity list. It is also in your child's packet. If you have any questions about it today please email me. When we return to school, please turn this sheet in with any of your child's work so we can count it. On each snow day I will also send additional activities-- you can do these instead of the ones on the list of you like-- they will be more related to our currently learning goals-- If you choose to do these, just write it on the sheet. If any of the work is too hard or not challenging enough, just contact us and we will find more activities on your child's level. Thank you for all you do!! The 100 Sight Words are ... Math: Focus this week: Making adding stories-- Together make some adding stories and then draw one and bring it to school to share. For example, two bears were into a cave. Three more came in and joined them. Now there are ______ all together. Emphasizing words like joined, and all together. Writing: Talk about what a new years resolution is. On paper draw a picture and write a sentence about one thing you will do in the new year. As you write, make sure you remember our writing rules- finger spaces, first letter capital, and using punctuation. Send this back to school.
